Our Fall From Space

There's our footsteps on the moon
While our spaceships crash too soon

Satellites amongst the stars
And rovers touching down on Mars

The Milky Way glimmers like gold
Andromeda, with stories untold

The Pillars of Creation stand so tall
As universes rise and fall

Where do we stand, amongst the dust
Waiting around upon the crust

Watching the sky with bated breath
As we approach Eternal Death

Could we ever be like them?
Upon our rock, stuck in mayhem

We beg, we plead, we try so hard
But humanity is much too scarred

So we scream into the void
Nothing's safe. It's all destroyed.

Our buildings crumble all around
Becoming dust upon the ground

What's left to lose? Our time's run out
As we riot, scream and shout

Does the cosmos hate us so?
Or was it simply all a show

We had so much time for love and peace
As we watched our humanity. slowly. cease.
